General Festival Rules

This is a competitive film festival. The 2012 Festival will accept entries for original short and feature films.

 

To qualify as a short, entries may not exceed 20 minutes in length and must have been completed on or after January 1, 2010. 

 

Films longer than 20 minutes will compete as Features.

 

Entries will be classified and judged as Young Filmmaker Short, Young Filmmaker Feature, Independent Filmmaker Short or Independent Filmmaker Feature.

 

Entry fee is $10.00 per film for Young Filmmakers - Students in grades K - 12.

 

Entry fee is $30.00 per film for Independent Filmmakers.


Films must have been completed on or after January 1, 2010.

 

The Festival will accept films in any genre.

All non-English films must have English sub-titles.


Photographs and Film Clips in Your Film:  You may use public domain images and film clips in your film if you cite your sources in the credits.  You will need written permission from the copyright holder to use all copyrighted materials.  
  
Music in Your Film:  Original music or music that is in the public domain may be used in your film if the source is cited in the credits.  You will need written permission from the copyright holder to use all copyrighted materials. 

Films must be submitted on DVD.  Please send two (2) copies.  We reserve the right to  make additional copies for festival judging purposes.

A typed or clearly printed entry form or copy of the online form must be submitted along with the DVDs. The DVDs should be labeled with the title, run time, filmmaker name, contact email and phone number.

 The Festival will confirm the receipt of DVDs and entry form via email.

 The Festival cannot be liable for DVDs which may be lost or damaged.

 The entrant will be responsible for ALL SHIPPING FEES.

 Film selection will be made by the Festival Committee and screening is at the sole discretion of the River City Film Festival.

 Entry fees are non-refundable and submission does not guarantee that the entry will be accepted to the festival for a screening.

 DVDs will not be previewed without entry fee payment.

 Do not send stills or press kits. If your film is selected, you may be asked to send a still image.

 All films selected for the Festival grant the River City Film Festival the rights to use DVD for promotional purposes.

 Entries must be received by February 15, 2012
